continues to evolve. it will weaken as it moves up toward eastern canada, running toward the very cold waters up there. yeah, that's where the waters are. temperatures in the water, only in the upper to low 50s. clouds moving out across the region. and looks like a great setup for the weekend. tim in the outback, with a look at the current advisories for the weekend. >> a picture says a thousand words. and you saw in adam may's picture, how the waves are really crashing into the beach there in ocean city. that is the reason now that we have a coastal flood statement. basically, a special weather statement is what is in effect for the beaches, basically from ocean city and worcester county, right on down into akimack county. that's the green strip right there. they've even lifted that watch and advisory for the delaware beaches. so it's basically a concern that the surf, the rip currents, and the tides are going to be very high, down along the coast. so you'll need to take heed. what you're seeing there is the double-digit winds have calmed down. 13-mile-per-hour sustained winds. high w

to a weather disturbance in canada. a few showers coming off of lake ontario. to our south in north carolina, a few clouds over the water. that is about it. we have sunshine here this morning. we have some clouds on occasion yesterday. i do not think we both see as many today. it has drifted further to the northeast. we will be further away from that. let's take a look outside right now. there is the sunshine with blue skies. 67 at the airport and the inner harbor at 69. the low temperature this morning was 53. 45% humidity so that number is dropping off. the barometer is rising now that the cool front and hurricane earl have moved further away. west winds at 10 miles per hour. any breeze today will be out of the west and northwest. it will not be as gusting as it was yesterday. let's take a look at the current temperatures. instead of seeing all kinds of different colors, we see greens which are the upper 60's near 70 degrees. in see green and changing to blew and blew which are the low 60's near the 50's. there is some cool air out there especially in the mountains. this is the cruelest we

over eastern canada pulling ploice tour -- moisture down off the great lakes. and then the clouds start to come in approaching that storm. most of the day we will see that. seasonnably warm. 77-81. a tropical storm right now. as we get into the middle of the week, probably stay to the north of the caribbean islands. not the hurricane center forecast, just long-term models for bermuda and canada and maybe maine toward the end of the week or next weekend. so it looks like it will miss the easter seaboard the way things look now. you never know. our own forecast more near term here, by this evening, we begin to see more clouds and rain to the west. overnight, the rain sneaks in, and during the day tomorrow, on-again/off-again rain showers. we might get a few sun breaks by sunset. it is 7:25 or so. then on monday, there will be a little secondary front off to the northwest. it probably won't make rain. but it may increase the clouds late in the day. so seven-day forecast, 79 today, 76 tomorrow. a lot of sun, and a lot of clouds in our rain chance. partly cloudy. tuesday, wednesday, and thur

canada but reaching southward over -- below the great lakes. it is too far south to affect us. everything going on in the atmosphere will be to our north. let's take a wlook at wlats going on right here, right now. i mention the clear skies. very comfortable with b.w.i. marshall. down to 67. 64 at the inner harbor. 72% the humidity. 29.94 the barometric pressure. it is rising. we finally -- what's left of our hurricane is now just a low pressure center way up in eastern canada. the cold front that came through following earl is now way out to sea. so everything is quieted down considerably. the winds are down. let's put temperatures in there and show you what's going on temperature-wise. i thought it would be a little cooler than this. maybe tomorrow morning will be the coolest morning. it is still down there. easton, camebridge, and salisbury all 55. on the boardwalk it is 357. parkton is chilly at 54. 57 west minister. 54 frederick. 56 at hancock. 39 at mchenry. i thought we would see a 49 closer to us. join us again tomorrow morning and we'll check up on that and see what happens. clea

? >> earl is clearing new england and heading to the maritime provinces of canada. >> it has gotten over -- it was far enough off shore it was just a big squalor really for us. nearby in the mid-atlantic region, hatteras probably got the worst of it. it wasn't probably as bad as it could have been. in new england the storm has weakened. now, as as always happens behind a hurricane, you get excellent weather. here's the radar. h.d. doppler showing the eye of the storm. the radar is only seeng the wench half of the storm. the eastern half of the storm is too far away from the radar to pick up any echos. mostly up in the state of maine now. one good squalor line running through vermont and new hampshire and down into massachusetts. a couple showers along lake eerie, and that's associated with a cool front that went through. that's the next big thing. cooler air is coming in behind this. a cool front has cleared the area without rain behind this. we'll talk about a terrific holiday weekend. summer is on the way out. it is all coming up with the insta-weather plus forecast. >> earl has come a

of sunshine with no rain nearby. the closest rain is up in maine and canada. here is a look at the hd doppler radar. sunshine as far south as our area. tropical storm earl moving up into canada. it is moving out of the picture. let's take a look at the large picture here. some rain in the gulf coast region where the air is more tropical. a few showers in montana. that is it. very quiet weather except for the northeastern corner of the u.s. let's look at the sunshine. a beautiful morning. 72 but the airport and 74 at the inner harbor. the humidity is way down at 43% which will make this nice. perfect weather for the labor day weekend. i almost did not want to see summer going away. the barometer is low but rising that earl's leaving. finally we can get the barometer of there. west winds are picking up 12-24 miles per hour. today would be the 12th in a row that we have not had significant rain. yesterday we had a trace of right which was an outer band of earl along the western shore of the day. if has been 12 days without any significant rain. we have a deficit for the month of about 0.3 inch.

to maryland in terms of its devastating effects but parts of the northeast and canada weren't as lucky. this is earl making land fall in nova scotia early this morning. it's being blamed for the death of a man who drowned while he was trying to secure his boat in halifax. here's a look at earl last night as it hit the northeast as a tropical storm. this was taken about the same time earl's eye was passing nan tact -- nantucket off the coast of massachusetts. numerous flights were canceled and am track services were -- and amtrak services were delayed. plans were disrupted for thousands of vacationers this labor day weekend and while one business owner said earl didn't leave much damage, his hotel is feeling consequences. >> about 60% of her business isn't here today. we would normally expect to be sold out for the weekend. this is a very big weekend for us to ep -- to end the sum we are a bang. but it's -- we'd rather have it like this than be cleaning up debris. >> no word on the impact, if any, that earl had on ocean city business this is holiday weekend. the investigation into what

is writing pretty far north. it will go through upstate new york and southeast canada and northern maine. these areas will stay north of the pennsylvania line today. we do not expect much effect from this particular whether feature. let's look at what happened yesterday. it was nice outside with low humidity. 78 at the airport and 80 at the inner harbor. morning lows yesterday or in the 52 to 60 range. their readings are that low because the moisture content of the air has dropped off. annapolis, 66. salisbury, 53. the same at the boardwalk and ocean city, very pleasant. 57, westminster. 46 at frostburg. the mounds are really nice and chilly. here you see this cool air reaching from new england and into the upper great lakes. you do see some warmer air near chicago and back into iowa and missouri. this will start to sneak into our area. it will start tomorrow -- even today. today will be warmer than yesterday. the actual storm is back in the plains states. coming out montana and into the dakotas. basically it is a big area of high pressure sitting over us and that means some great weathe

morning. the consumer products safety commission an canada are announcing these recalls, a lot of fisher-price brand name items here. we begin with 7 million fisher-price trikes and tough trikes sold in the u.s. and canada. the trikes have a protruding plastic key known to cause injury to children's genitals. they are intended for children between the ages of 2 and 5, sold from january of '97 through september 2010. if you have one, fisher-price will replace that key. also replacing more than a million healthy care, easy clean and close to me high chairs. there are pegs on the back of the legs meant for storage and reports of at least 14 children being injured after falling on or against those pegs. fisher-price recalling more than 3 million infant toys sold under a number of names, baby play zone, gymnastics, ocean wonders, a choking hazard there and 120,000 little people wheelies because they can come off and cause a choking hazard. fisher-price this morning said it wants to assure its customers its products are overwhelmingly safe. we talked to the consumer products commission chairma

pattern has high pressure coming down from canada and we have that cool, dry air as this cold front has passed through. you can see the warmer air to the south and that will continue over the next several days or so. we are looking at the tropics and we have tropical storm ior. for today, that temperature is going to be around 78 degrees. mostly sunny, and it is going to be mild and breezy. so it's going to be a great day to get out there and eat that lunch outdoors. i would say, the winds are going to kick up. you could see a lot of trash blowing across the area. if today is your trash day, bring that trash indoors because it will be everywhere. tonight, that temperature coming in at 56 degrees. it's going to be mostly clear and cool. so yes, another cool evening and then another cool morning as well. but tomorrow, that temperature right around 77 degrees. so 78 today, 77 tomorrow. still lots of sunshine in the forecast. it's going to be mild and still going to be on the breezy side as well. let's take it over to traffic with kim brown. >> thanks linette. we are off it a good start. i

the energy riding across the great lakes and through the border into canada. we may have a diminished chance of getting storms today as we had one frontal boundary push off the coast. we did tap into that 90-degree range and you'll notice the 90s curving their way back toward columbus, ohio, we were almost as hot as atlanta, georgia yesterday and we did beat charleston, south carolina. a lot of 70s and mugginess down here. a true sense of midsummer heat and the air mass trying to hang on to that last season. we bring it home and watch that energy to the northwest. we'll watch another line of showers and storms. this is the way the computer model looked yesterday afternoon. we did survive the trip with the added heat and energy. there could be another round today. i'll keep a threat isolated which means a 30% shot or less. anding to if again on friday. most of the weather back to our west. but until then, we have more heat to go. today 88, we'll probably push the limit of night in any spot. there will be the chance of showers and storms in the afternoon evening. patchy fog at 65. for tomorrow

lucky here in the united states, our friends in canada won't be so lucky. earl is about to make landfall as a very strong tropical storm in nova scotia. so the most damage that earl will sprou going to happen take up this from halifax down to nova scotia. 70-miles-per-hour winds, but the storm is moving quickly. so by later today, the storm will be long gone. so what's next? september is the peak of the hurricane season. usually one storm after another. it looks like we'll miss the storm once again. this is a slow moving system, should be near puerto rico about five days from now, so we have plenty of time to watch it and there's no threat to the united states as we go through the labor day weekend. back to you. >>> overseas, they're still as cessing the damage this morning after a major earthquake in new zealand. it measure 7.1 and was centered on the south island just west of christ church, the country's second largest city. melissa stokes of tvnz is in christ church for us. we know there was certain for people trapped in rubble. what do we know about any rescues or cualties at this ho

scale satellite picture. the whole thing going on. the storm system up over eastern canada, maritime provinces are providing a west-northwest flow of air over us, keem keeping temperatures a little below average. we have seen this cloudiness drop up. we have a new front coming in. the front moving in. a complex system. the high pressure over us will be sliding over the east allowing for the clouds and rain to eventually get here. so our forecast today a mix of sun and then clouds moving in later on this afternoon and this evening. seasonnably warm. up near 80 degrees or so. it depends on how quickly clouds come in. southeast winds eventually at 5 to 10 miles per hour. we have tropical storm igor out to the atlantic. we are also watching a disturbance that moved into the caribbean now for potential development. our own forecast, we look at that rain moving into the area, across the day during the day sunday. we may see sun breaks if things move quickly enough, and then we have had it dry out on monday a little bit, but it looks like a little secondary appearance. so our forecast calls

south out of canada here. this front will come through tomorrow night. in the short term, high pressure will be in control, so we'll see a lot of sunshine today, and temperatures will climb in the upper 70's to around 80 he is. let me give you a quick update on the tropics. this is hurricane igor. the others are dissipating. julia is a tropical storm, so julia is a player. it is a category 2 hurricane. it is expected to cross right over bermuda late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. now, if the i of the storm passes to the west of bermuda, they are going to get the brunt of it, and there is going to be serious damage on the island. as a matter of fact, they will probably get rain and tropical storm conditions tonight and tomorrow morning. obviously if you have travel plans to bermuda, will you want to watch what happens with igor. we will get dangerous rip currents. the high temperature between 75 and 80. sunrise coming up at 6:50. mostly clear tonight and cool again. about the same as last night. temperatures between 51 and 61. sunset at 10 -- the front comes through monday night and b
